Council Visits JICA Office in Japan

City Council conducted work visit (kunker) to Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) office at Chiyoda, Tokyo, Japan, yesterday.

We want to know about the cooperation process

This kunker was attended by City Council Chairman, Prasetio Edi Marsudi; City Council Vice Chairman,  Abraham Lunggana and Ferrial Sofyan; Commission A Head, Riano P Ahmad; Commission B Head, Yusriah Dzinnun; and Commission C Head, Santoso. 

City Council Chairman, Prasetio Edi Marsudi mentioned kunker was held due to JICA invitation and his side wants to strengthen relationship with JICA related to Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) project in Jakarta.

City to Find Solution About Budget Shortfall for MRT

"Together with my deputies in Jakarta City Council and Commission Heads, we want to know about the cooperation process," he said at JICA office, Tokyo, Thursday (2/1).

According to him, MRT construction is initiated by Central Government but 51 percent of total cost in phase 1 and 2 is imposed to Jakarta Provincial Government.

"We want explanation for this, about earned profit thus Jakarta is able to return the loan money from JICA within prescribed period," he said.

At the same place, JICA Vice President, Ejima Shinya explained, his side has experienced in transportation Infrastructure construction in developing countries. Based on that, he wants City Council not to worry about profits that will be earned by PT. MRT Jakarta.

"MRT underground can be made as trading and activity center that would earn benefit," he conveyed.
